Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use Sea Time Ledger, and the limits of what a record keeping helper can be relied on for.
Last updated 28 September 2026.
What this is
Sea Time Ledger is a helper for boaters keeping their own record of sea service. It does arithmetic on the trips you enter and compares the counted days with published service numbers, summarised in its own words. It is not an official record, it is not an official form, and it does not decide whether any day counts or whether anyone is eligible for a credential. Sea Time Ledger does not determine eligibility; the credentialing authority decides. It gives no navigation, safety or legal advice.
Official forms and requirements
The printed vessel grid and the letter draft here are our own layouts of your numbers, not the official form. When you fill your own downloaded form, you remain responsible for checking every box, completing it and having it signed by the right person. You and the person attesting certify the service, so check every number against your own records. Requirements change; where anything here disagrees with the current regulations or published guidance, those govern. Sea Time Ledger is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the United States Coast Guard, the National Maritime Center or any other government body.
Your records
Anything the site remembers is stored by your own browser on your own device. It can be cleared by you at any time, cannot be recovered by us, and does not follow you to another device. Keep backups and keep copies of your signed forms and letters.
What is free
Logging trips, the day rule, your totals, the gap check against each credential, every guide, and export of your own records are free to use with no account and stay that way. When billing is enabled, a paid tier sits on top of that and adds conveniences. Nothing that counts your days, or that gets your own records out, is moved behind a payment.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email [email protected] within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (weekly, yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site to keep and check your own records. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, and do not present its output as an official document.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Sea Time Ledger is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it, including days that are not credited. A result here is a calculation on the numbers you typed, not advice about your eligibility.
Contact
Questions, or a report that a day or a rule is counted wrongly, go to [email protected]. A wrong calculation is a defect and gets fixed.
